Hire digital-marketing and social-media service providers
Marketing work can include strategy, content creation, community management or paid advertising. These are different services. Define the actual work and reporting you are buying instead of relying on a promise of guaranteed followers, sales or search rankings.
Separate work from business outcomes
Record the channels, content quantities, campaign period, audience and reporting schedule. Sales and rankings depend on factors a provider may not control. Agree measurable deliverables such as approved assets, campaign configuration and documented reporting, with clear boundaries on results-based promises.
- List channels and tasks.
- Set a reporting period.
- Define approval and revision steps.
Distinguish service fees and advertising spend
Ask whether a quote includes the provider’s work, ad spend, software or creative production. Keep an auditable record of any spend you authorise. Confirm who owns the advertising account, tracking configuration and creative materials, and how unused budget or cancellation will be handled.
Use appropriate account permissions
Grant the access needed for the agreed task through the platform’s authorised business or agency tools where available. Do not hand over banking passwords, unrelated personal accounts or one-time security codes. Remove access after the project ends and retain control of your own business assets.
Check the report before accepting delivery
Review the actual work and the reporting source, not only a screenshot of an attractive number. Ask for explanation of the audience, costs and results against the agreed brief. Reject spam, fake engagement or misleading claims as a growth strategy. Keep the evidence needed to assess the service fairly.
Common questions
Can a provider guarantee sales or first place on Google?
Such results depend on many factors. Buy clear work and credible reporting, and question unconditional guarantees.
Is ad spend part of the service fee?
It depends on the quote. Record those amounts separately.
Should I give a marketer my password?
Use authorised role-based access where available and share only what is needed for the work.
Agree the details before you pay
Review the current fees, eligibility and available methods in your account. Keep the agreed terms and use the correct transaction flow.
